I think a year round resort in this area would be great, as long as the grizzly bear habitat would not be harmed. All bear habitats have been shrunk do to roads and oil and gas, that to risk much more for the sake of a sweet ski resort would be ridiculous. The bears were to be monitored and if problems that arise are dealt with aptly. Then this type of resort would benefit Canada and north america greatly. The bear, both black and griz, territories have shrunk too much to sacrifice for just a good ski hill. There are already a lot of great places with the recent renovations in the past years that we can access by lift without compromising bear habitat.

Sounds like a great addition to Fernie, wow, I'm impressed! Will you be having a retreat center also, where we can have Christian conferences or some type of Spiritual sessions or retreats etc. that would be a bonus and I would volunteer my time.

Although I like the idea of going higher, the name of the chair, Polar Peak, in the Rockies, it will also be the coldest place to be of all the ski resorts, brrrrr.

It happened, they bought Kicking Horse, bad times. An embarrassment of a company has taken over a pretty cool place. Brace yourself for rip off prices, poor service and poor experiences. I wonder if they will put in a random lift to terrain most people can't ride instead of bringing back real freestyle parks with correctly maintained features and jumps?

The upper mountain skied really well! The last storm cycle that rained 60mm in the valley brought most of the Alder brush down, opening the bowls and ridges for great skiing. Lizard and Cedar Bowls were open and Cascade, Dancer, Cedar Main, to name a few–skied very well.

I'm looking forward to skiing the Dark side on Friday's re-opening!
